About the page

This is an unofficial page about Hurtigruten, which I initially created just for fun. It started with a very simple page layout and unadvanced html tags. I have learned through different html guides online and borrowed codes to menu settings. I've tried numerous different layouts, but the one I have now I am very happy with. The page as it looks now I have put together myself in the Notepad. It's been fun to make, but also demanding and annoying, when all the pictures disappeared behind a red X mark and the text and the page margins lived their own lives. I am grateful for every visitor on the page, each guestbook entry and each mail. If you have concerns, questions or you have discovered an error on the page, I say thank you to you who informs me of it.

A little about myself

My name is Carina Hansen, I'm 23 years old and was born and raised in Stamsund in Lofoten. Hurtigruten and photography have been my two main interests since I was 13 years old. "Richard With" is my favorite ship and has a huge spot in my heart, and I have during the years met so many great people on board. The pile of Hurtigruten-tickets has become quite high, and the images of the ships counts over 15,000 files, and I publish the best ones here on the page.

In 2006 I started as a seaman apprentice onboard Hurtigruten. Most of the apprentice-time I worked onboard the oldest ship "Nordstjernen", which I enjoyed very much. After the apprenticeship I took the certificate as a AB seaman, and in 2010 I started college and completed the first year (Deck-class 4, navigator). Furthermore I also focus on a job and possibly education in photography.

Sources/Credits:

My best helping-tools while I wrote the text on the pages were the books "Livslinje og eventyrreise: Historien om Hurtigruten" (Lifeline and adventure journey: The history of Hurtigruten) written by Dag Jr Bakka, and the book "Fra De Taptes Saga" (From The Losts Saga) by Steinar Oppedal. Some sentences are directly quoted from these books, and the writers are given part of the credit of the text on this page. Also I'm thanking the kind members of the CaptainsVoyage Forums for assisting me during the translation of this page.
